Returning Relationships to Medicine

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions about this service

Does my insurance cover this prescription?

No. Meaningful Medicine wrote this prescription for you to study your blood sugars. Insurance does not cover prescriptions written for this reason. Even if you have diabetes or other medical problems, your insurance will NOT COVER this prescription because it is written for self-study. You will be charged by the pharmacy for this prescription.

Is there a discount since I'm paying out of pocket?

Yes. GoodRx offers a generous discount for the Dexcom G7 to customers paying cash. Instead of $300-$400 per prescription, the cost is closer to $150-$180. Once your prescription has been sent to the pharmacy, we will include that coupon in our communication.

NOTICE: Before your prescription is sent to the pharmacy, you must
1) Answer the questions and sign the agreements in the intake process.
2) Your information will be processed by our team. This involves actual human beings and can take a couple of business days if we have many requests in a short period of time.
3) After your case is approved, Meaningful Medicine will charge you a processing fee. We send the prescription to the pharmacy after that bill is paid.

I found the Dexcom G7 cheaper at a different pharmacy; how do I change pharmacies?

Send us a message through the portal with the new pharmacy name, address, phone number, and area code. We will send the prescription to the new pharmacy and update your file.

Is the processing fee refundable if I decide not to acquire my CGM from the pharmacy?

We do not accept your money until we know you qualify and agree that you understand the plan. As a result, the processing fee is nonrefundable.

How do I cancel my prescription?

We do not require a monthly subscription and have provided you access to the Dexcom G7 for 12 months. The fee to Meaningful Medicine covers the administrative costs to ensure you have 12-month access to the Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitor prescription. As a result, it is up to you how often you pick up your monthly prescription.

What is a prior authorization?

Insurance companies use a management process to determine if a prescribed product or service is covered under your insurance plan. NO insurance covers Continuous Glucose Monitors when prescribed for self-study. Your insurance will not cover this prescription. If your pharmacy asks for this, kindly remind them that you will be paying for this device. Ask them not to process the prescription through insurance.

What happens if my sensor fails or falls out before the ten days are up?

Sometimes sensors fail or fall out, and Dexcom has a process for this. Please reach out to Dexcom’s support team. They handle the issues on a case-by-case basis but often replace sensors. Thankfully, this is an uncommon problem.
Dexcom support can be reached at 888-738-3646.

What if my mobile device is incompatible with the Dexcom G7 sensor?

Please send us a message through the portal, and we can send a prescription to your pharmacy on file for the Dexcom G7 receiver. Click HERE for a list of compatible devices for the Dexcom G7.
